Understanding, Preventing, and Managing Sexual Harassment: A Primer for Human Resources and Businesses
This ebook serves as a companion to D’Arienzo Psychology’s Online Sexual Harassment Awareness Course and is also a stand-alone primer. It is informative for all types of employees, employers, and occupations whether you are onboarding with a new company, required to complete an intervention, dealing with your own sexual harassment case, or learning to prevent it in your workplace. Eliminating sexual harassment allows people to operate safely and comfortably and maximize their productivity and creativity while avoiding unwelcome sexual messages and hostile environments. There is no room for sexual harassment in today’s occupational environment. The MeToo and Anti-Bully Movements have galvanized the need for greater awareness, empathy, intolerance of disrespect, and tolerance for all (Tippett, 2018). Who among us would want our children, parents, friends, significant others, or siblings to be subjected to feeling minimized, harassed, and degraded? Victims of sexual harassment are someone’s husband, wife, sister, brother, son, daughter, mother, or father. It’s everyone’s responsibility to eradicate it.
