Among the many things that you will learn about anger management, you will learn about the fundamentals of cognitive behavioral therapy, and how to use those techniques to better manage your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors as it relates to anger. For example, you will learn to manage your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, through the use of a specialized breathing technique called diaphragmatic breathing. Utilizing this way of breathing, elicits the relaxation response, which lessens aggressive responding. You will also learn a technique called progressive muscle relaxation. In this activity you will learn to progressively tense and relax most muscles in your body. This will teach you to better understand and read your body's reactions so you can alter them before it is too late. This technique will help you relax as well. Moreover, regarding cognitive behavioral therapy, you will learn to change your feeling (anger) by changing your thought and behaviors. An example of changing your thoughts would be learning to look at events differently preventing you from catastrophizing. Rather than catastrophizing, you will learn to examine the larger perspective and begin to see life events as challenges and opportunities for growth. You will also learn much more about managing your behavior as well as about facts regarding anger management by taking our course.
